Cadbury

New Zealand 2010 Commonwealth Games Team

Cadbury was proud to be the Official Fundraiser for the New Zealand 2010 Commonwealth Games team! To help our athletes get to the Games, we launched the Cadbury Chocolate Grants.

Cadbury has a long history of fundraising in New Zealand – 40 years in fact. In that time, we’ve seen millions of dollars raised for thousands of schools, clubs and organisations around the country, so we were stoked to be able to offer this support to our Commonwealth athletes.

Together with the New Zealand Olympic Committee, we selected 10 New Zealand athletes to receive fundraising chocolate worth $20,000 to help them with their Commonwealth Games preparations. $20,000 can mean so much to an athlete – the ability to travel to important international competitions, afford more coaching time or buy that crucial piece of kit that could mean a medal in Delhi!

Our 10 Cadbury Chocolate Grants recipients were chosen because they not only embody the values and principles of the New Zealand Commonwealth Games Federation and Cadbury NZ, but because of the real difference the Grant will make to their Games preparation and their sporting career.

We worked alongside each athlete to help them sell the chocolate, with 100% of the proceeds going to the athlete to raise money for their Commonwealth Games preparation. We shared our expertise to help athletes create fan bases in their local communities, and with NZ Olympic Committee partners Harvey World Travel and United Travel, we also sold 50% of the chocolate on all of our 10 athletes’ behalf.

So congratulations to our 2010 Cadbury Chocolate Grants athletes. We’ll be updating you on their journey to the Games right up until Delhi and beyond!
